Moraig beach - Cumbre del Sol

5 minute drive down the mountain is a picturesque cove used almost exclusively by the residents of Cumbre del Sol, with a car park; in season – beach bar, sun beds and pedalos for hire. Undercliff walks for those who enjoy walking (you will see the signposts at the Moraig car park area). Also well-known to divers for the underwater entrance to the Moraig Cave.

Puig Llorenca - Cumbre del Sol Summit

Stage finish point for the La Vuelta Cyclista Espana (Spain's version of the Tour de France) in 2017.  Walk or drive to the summit for a 360° panorama! And take a camera, especially at sunset. Breathtaking views! On the mountainside, there are some amazing villas have been built which have a view towards the mountains and the sunset. But we think our 180° uninterrupted view of the Mediterranean is beautiful too!

Moraira

10 mins drive. Moraira has 3 beaches; one is a sandy child-friendly beach. It also has a pretty marina. The Moraira Tourist Information Office is on the right of the main roundabout, just as you arrive in the town.

The town has not been spoilt by high rise buildings and over-development thanks to strict planning rules. Moraira's history as a fishing village has meant its fish market is one of the most popular in this part of the Costa Blanca.

Moraira has gained a reputation for excellent restaurants (especially for local fish), bars and pavement cafes as well as small shops and boutiques.

Check the internet for fiesta dates because they are held in the town for special events, including the famous 'Moors and the Christians' event in June.

Friday is Moraira Market day which is held in the main car park on the right, just as you arrive at the town. And if you take a 10 minute stroll east out of town along the coastal road you'll discover the little cove of El Portet ...

El Portet

A lovely little beach set in a little cove further along from Moraira marina (when driving, go into Moraira and turn left - you'll see a road sign for El Portet). Enjoy a quiet drink and listen to the waves gently lapping whilst the sun goes down.

From El Portet, you can also access the walk up the cliff slope to the tower - The Torre del Cap d'Or.

La Granadella Parc

The residential area of Cumbre del Sol is situated next to La Granadella Natural Forest Park, approx 700 hectares and declared a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. So don’t miss the chance to go for a walk and be sure to take your camera. See: La Granadella Forest Park

Javea / Xabia

10 mins drive. There are two main beaches in Javea. Arenal Beach is a lovely sandy beach ideal for children. The promenade is lined with shops, bars and restaurants. Granadella Beach is pebble and coarse sand. Many shops and excellent restaurants.

Javea Golf Club is less than 10 mins away.

Jalon / Xalo

20 mins inland is the village of Jalon in the green and picturesque Jalon Valley, at the foot of the Sierra Bernia ridge. Great flea market every Saturday. Jalon has a number of British ex-pat residents.

Go further inland to discover smaller Spanish villages.

Other places of interest:

Local villages: Benitachell and Benissa retain all the traditional charm of old Spain.

Calpe 25 min. Famous Ifach rock for climbers. Beaches.

Denia 25 mins. Large coastal town (including Hospital) and ferry to Ibiza. Long beach.

Benidorm 40 mins. Beaches, night-life, theme parks.

In Moraira there is a very helpful Tourist Office where you can get help planning trips and activities, travelling further afield (maybe visiting the cities of Valencia or Alicante), and other general local information.
